Hello everyone! I am Dr Roland, Executive Director and former resident of Boys’ Town. After leaving Boys’ Town, I pursued a degree in Engineering and worked in the technical and training consultancy sector. In 2004, I decided to retrace my roots and returned to Boys’ Town as a youth worker and have been here ever since.
A safe place for people to express themselves. It is a place where we learn from our mistakes and count our blessings. It is also a place which helps us to grow into better versions of ourselves.
Boys’ Town is a second home to me – where I spent my childhood and where I was supported and given opportunities to express myself and grow from my mistakes. It is a welcoming, diverse and inclusive space focused on forgiveness and growth. I’ve learnt so much about myself and about the many different circumstances of the different boys.
Boys’ Town is a charity founded in 1948, providing residential care, fostering services, respite care, youth outreach, adventure therapy and clinical interventions. Contrary to popular belief, Boys’ Town serves both boys and girls, and beneficiaries range from infants to young adults. It is an inclusive and safe space aimed at equipping its beneficiaries with the skills to become socially integrated, responsible and contributing members of society.
